Track title: Agency

Genre: Any

Lyric:

When the bad times happen in life
When weeping and dealing with strife
When the lack of understanding seems rife
Then it’s time to pick up wisdom’s jackknife

Then is when you start to ask “why”
Then repeat it as all the answers fly
Then continue until all but one die
Then, finally, your truth is nigh

Self-deception has ruined so many things
Knowing your inner truth gives life wings

Many times we know things we don’t want to see
Many times we blow things refusing to let them be
Many times we sow things quite impatiently
Many times we know woe for refusing our agency

The magic of living rests in the conscious choice
But you never get one when you refuse that inner voice
The purpose of your inner voice is to guide your care
First to give unto yourself and then with others share

You cannot give another what you don’t know yourself
It’s as true for kindness as for love and most else

The world gets this so wrong, though likely by intent
Insists we must be strong, on it all efforts spent
Knowing all along it’s an unsustainable bent
Blinding and binding us by manufactured consent

Giving us the tools by which we conveniently self-hobble
Insisting we are fools if we dally or rightly squabble
Distracting on the regular, always a new cultural bauble
For boots of conditioned response systems happily cobble

The tools of self-sustainability these systems decry
Seeking to keep us unbalanced and afraid to ask “Why?”
Beginning with care of yourself, all of it you can defy
Bring for all a future with more choice than to comply

Self-deception has ruined so many things
Knowing your inner truth gives life wings

Many times we know things we don’t want to see
Many times we blow things refusing to let them be
Many times we sow things quite impatiently
Many times we know woe for refusing our agency
