in a word… wow.
tonight, i had the absolute luxury of going to see the blue man group in concert. as i recall, they got their start doing commercials for intel ‘back in the day’. i had never seen them and honestly, didn’t know they HAD a concert tour. but thanks to a new friend, the chance arose to go see them and damn it, i went.
i am SO glad i did.
it was a night of comedy, music, drama, surprises, and interestingly enough – deep thought. you could have knocked over with a feather when the giant overhead screen broadcast a message that (paraphrasing) went:
and now, a journey through a jungian landscape wherein the shadow is utilized to express the sense of disconnectedness of psyche that humanity feels in an increasingly mechanized world.
i turned to my friend and whispered, ‘guess what?’ and he said, ‘what, you wrote that?’ (hah!) i giggled and replied, ‘no, but i know what they’re about to do.’
just amazing. i found myself wishing like hell that i had an actual camcorder… they ALLOW cameras at their shows. i took what pictures i could and recorded in the one minute intervals my camera would allow, but soon killed the batteries, alas.
if you get a chance to see them, by all means possible, DO. i mean it. you will not regret the time, the money, or the experience. truly, they are amazing.
And the videos!
