well. whew. glad that’s done. ladies, don’t let anyone fool you, 40+ hormones are hell. i’m terrified of menopause.

in the good news department, i’m not a hipster. (whatever that is.) linking through the livejournals of my friend, P, i run into several of the kids i used to run ‘chat mom’ for at the old INDEX BBS system. they’re all grown up. wowsah. but one of them had this link to this quiz. so ok, i took it. and it tells me i’m not a hipster. hurray.

reading them talk/write about being ‘old’ at 30, having the whole ‘why didn’t i study harder’ spasm, all the things that come with realizing you’re not immortal, mom and dad really did know what they were talking about, and sheesh, now you’ve got to do it anyway… heh. i am proud of the things i read of them.

for a number of years, i was the parent who wasn’t a parent and i got to hear all the things their parents would have freaked out to hear. i like to think i helped. the ones i’ve talked to say so. i’m content to believe it.

sitting here eating a bowl of hand-made mac and cheese, trying to decide what i want to do tonight. maybe read. maybe Trungpa. maybe write. hmm. maybe just curl up with the cats and laze and feel the relief of the last week’s passing.

weird week gets weirder every month. stars. i feel like i need to buy crayons for my toes for the next one. it’s like big ol’ cerebral rubber band, stretched to its snapping point. just hanging there, quivering and trying not to snap long enough for it to ease off. sucks. really.

anyway. through it. thank you!

sent out a few more resumes today. found some very nice looking technical writing jobs that are actually close to home. now if they’ll just call. i’m so sick and tired of the phone never ringing. i’ve cleared my phonebook of all the people who just never call. hah. i sit here and think of the money spent to give him phone minutes and how he solemnly swore they’d be used to keep in touch. yeah. right.

boy, was i a sucker.

ok. enough of that. i’m going to go chew through this next ‘crown of stars’ book. and laze with the cats at the same time.

so there.
