stars. the interview went spectacularly well.
i spent about an hour talking with one of the owners, the friend who referred me to this opening, and his co-worker. everything i’ve heard supports this as an amazing opportunity for a ‘career home’… which is a decidedly welcome and exciting prospect.
i sit here in the ‘afterglow’ of a very positive experience and almost manage not to fret for the mountain of logistics in the distance.
enumerating here:
– my lease doesn’t expire until march ’07. there will be expense incurred to terminate it. however, it may be possible to get out from under it if i demonstrate that a job transfer is taking me out of state. something to think about…
– i’m going to need either a uhaul or a pod to move. the pod might be the best idea, as it won’t require credit card or driving it all down myself. making a note to investigate this further.
– living quarters. i’m still cleaning up my credit report from the dot com bust and subsequent disasters. i was fortunate to get the apartment i have now, and only managed it for a loan from a friend, as they required a month’s rent in advance. i’m worried for not being able to secure a place to stay in florida. for the moment, i push this out of my mind.
the actual thought of the move does not at all phase me. to be near the ocean again will be a delight i had not thought to enjoy for years to come.
the owner is ‘juggling numbers’ and will be in touch next week. i have a half-hearted hope they will offer some manner of relocation assistance, which would neatly resolve everything… but cannot count on it.
we’ll see.
