of the road, the fire, and the future

scrytch’d poem in similar vein and theme to one posted by mobiusghost 12-12-06.

perhaps even for the same reasons. perhaps.

Listen to me, dear one
Set down your heavy load
Rest you by The Fire
Forget the rock-strewn road
Look with peaceful eyes
Upon the moments past
Friendship, Fellowship, The Fire
Truths that ever last

Why do you now weep?
What of this makes you cry?
As if such precious things
Ever truly pass us by?
Look closer, look inside yourself
Find it there

What reason do you yet walk
What seems an empty, lonesome path
Why you bend and strain beneath
The weight of aftermath

When night is come and it is quiet
Do you not look up to the sky
Find in the stars so silent
What ends all fear… by and by?

All things pass, dear one
Yet there is delight
Breathe in the moment
Let your mind take flight

As our belief fades
As we toddle toward the night
We think to cling to yesterdays
We think to reality fight

All things pass, dear one
But it is far from the end
Beyond this which we now know
We shall meet again

There is no knowing tomorrow
And yesterdays eventually fade
Why fear a coming sorrow
This moment for the unknown, trade?

Come sit by The Fire, dear one
Let the past be as it will
Come remember the warmth of now
Which ends all fearful chill

Come rest you by The Fire
Come set those fears to flight
Come join those who aspire
As striving spirits might

To smile before the ending
To tryst with delicate might
To ever sing the song
In which all souls delight
