February 28:  Tibetan New Year – Losar

February 28:  Day of Miracles

February 28 – March 15:  Great Prayer Festival – Mönlam

Mönlam Chenmo:  The first fifteen days of the First Tibetan month which celebrate the days on which Lord Buddha performed many miracles, with the 15th being the Day of Miracles; the Great Prayer Festival (Mönlam Chenmo) takes place on these days.

May 28 – June 11:  Month of Saka Dawa

June 11:  Saka Dawa, Full Moon, Lord Buddha’s birth, enlightenment and parinirvana

July 6:  His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s Birthday

July 29:  Turning the Wheel of Dharma; Lord Buddha gave his first teaching

November 12:  Lord Buddha’s acceptance to descend from “Tushita” Heaven

December 15:  Lama Tsongkhapa’s birthday and passing day
