ack. a monday!

well. today certainly lived up to its most fierce reputation as the eater of human brains and general evilest day of the week.

a domain migration over the weekend led to much hilarity and frustration as dns and backbone provider seemed intent on impeding and resistant to all geeky powers.

without a system for the day, playing musical cubes as available to peck out a few things before being bumped for support to push updates and related matters to the desktop, it was effort to be productive, but it was possible. hurray for refusing to give up!

serious crunch time on a proposal saw me crafting information from the ground up, translating geek speak into ‘people talk’ and generally editing more writing in a single setting than i’d ever care to do again without significant notice.

but the afternoon brought more downtime for me. my machine, vista, refused to play nicely with the domain server and in typical fashion, microsoft has not yet rolled out support for their own product.

the upshot of which is that i’m rolling back to xp. only once you install vista, you can’t. so i’m getting another machine. which should be ready tomorrow morning.

between this and riding herd on an implementation, a certification syllabus, a user guide, and coordinating internal best practice development (albeit on the fly), i’m a busy girl. nice to be needed, but i cannot yet find the way to clone myself. heh.

turns out the two spotlight clients i’m servicing are regional… but whispers of international continue and requests to get passport in order become more insistent.

all in all, i love my job and they make no bones about loving me. which is nice. i really have not had this kind of autonomy and latitude in some time… and the constant appreciation is just… delightful.

so… a crazy, hectic, maddening day, but at the end, still a delight. there’s something about all of us standing around, literally panting, and being able to give each other one of those ‘we did it, and dang it, we did it well!’ looks.

so, monday, slink thee back to thy corner and paint it with thy sullen frowns… all power to wrest the day hath failed and thou art verily put down!!

hah!

oh my. i think i need a nap.
