good grief. you want to talk about ghosts from the past and things that leave a foul taste in the mouth? i discover tonight that the folks who pretty much drove a damn good possibility right into the ground are back in the saddle, apparently doing the same damn thing all over again…. this time, in the non-profit sector.
rezilio.com, hosts of playzi.com, is trying to garner funding for what they’re calling ‘ePhilanthropy’.
pardon me while i stifle a decidedly cynical cough. these are the people who, in my opinion, let a perfectly beautiful opportunity die for a profound lack of insight and competence.
these are the people who managed to mismanage their previous company (Rapid Reality, LLC) SO badly that the investors took them to court and took the company away from them and then, liquidated it to get ANY portion of their investment back in their pockets.
i worked for Rapid Reality, LLC for nine months in 2006. when i got there, i thought i had finally landed my ultimate ‘dream job’ – writing content for games.
i was laid off in september 2006 and in all honesty, it was the biggest favor they could possibly have done me, as those who remained behind through the ‘bitter end’ tell horror stories i’m really quite glad i was not there to suffer.
in my personal opinion, anyone who allows themselves to be shucked and jived by the admittedly suave team of Andrew Wells and Marc Ghetti are asking to be fleeced.
consider yourself warned. in my opinion, as someone who has beta’d, played, and participated in gaming for damn near 20 years, these two know as much about gaming as a fish does of living in a tree.
now if you’ll excuse me, i need to go find something to push the sense of disbelief and horror out of my head. ugh.
