careful what you wish for…

remember that old saying, ‘be careful what you wish for, you might just get it?’

well. it’s true.

my recruiter called today and advised me that my contract is at an end. apparently, making a recommendation they did not like hearing was enough to decide them to just be done.

the interesting part is, when they called the recruiter, all they did was sing my praises. but they also said they wanted someone there wbo was planning on staying.

which i’m not.

mind you, i fully expected it would end early, but i was rather hoping for it to go long enough for me to have a well lined pocket to head seattle way.

instead of the lint-lined one i have now.

i’ve been calling around trying to find some way to get my desk and bed out to seattle, since they will not fit in the truck. the best price i got was $865. only when the estimate arrived by email, that mysteriously had gone up to $995.

so i guess i’m leaving it behind. again. damn it. i just got this bed. i’m unhappy, but not miserable, i suppose.

so… i’m waiting for my deposit to arrive by mail this week (landlord called and hemmed and hawed and eventually decided he believed me and is going to send it ‘this week’). trust me, if he doesn’t and i have to stay here, unemployed, to deal with him, it is NOT going to be pretty.

we’ll see.

oh, and on top of it all, i have the head cold form hell. been running a mid-grade fever for the last two days, spiked today and had me passed out, clammy, and sweating on the sofa. my head… it feels like the entire region from ear to ear, front and back of my head in a three inch swath that starts at the base of my nose and runs up to where it meets my forehead… is solid concrete.

ugh.

on the upside, i’ve quit smoking rather immediately. perhaps it will last.

anyway, there’s the update. i’m on the road this weekend, seattle bound. the only question is what i’m taking with me. the roommate has said he will hold and ship things out later if i need it, so that’s a comfort.

hope you’re well.
