oddness and intent

i often say that intention is the root of meaning, and the hardest part about being human (or buddhist, for that matter) is to remember to step back and grant the benefit of the doubt.

my ex-landlord is not the brightest of bulbs. in truth, he’s very much like the ‘absent-minded professor’. but it is becoming hard to grant him the benefit of the doubt on things. particularly when even the simplest of transactions seems to be damn near impossible for him to manage.

the check for the deposit still having not arrived and it being a week, he agreed to stop payment upon it and issue a wire transfer from his bank to mine. i heartily approved of this, as it mean no hassle trying to get someone in NC to run that check to the bank for me.

he called me this morning about 7am my time to inform me he was at the bank, doing the transfer. asked me for information and confirmed the routing and account number and rang off.

wire transfers are instant.

as of 2:50pm my time (5:50pm his time), the item has not reached my account.

now. knowing the history, what would think? (see my point about benefit of the doubt? it can be damn hard to grant.)

i called him. it went to voicemail. i calmly explained it had not arrived and mentioned that perhaps his bank was having difficulty. i asked him to tell me who it is and explained that i will have my bank call his bank and perhaps they can get it settled between the two of them.

we’ll see how it goes.

in other news… i’ve gotten a nibble from a recruiter on an opportunity here in town. i’ve also found several very nice positions open, one with amazon.com. i’m excited. 🙂

not much else happening. the travelogue and such likely will wait a bit until i get settled and can devote some time to making things enjoyable to read.

in the meantime, hope you’re doing well and hugs and smiles to you.
