Mind you, these are current state, with the present owner’s items. That said, here’s a short tour until I get can an opening to do a better one or until after moving in….

Located on a hill overlooking the old town and out, into Puget sound, the house is a 1944 bungalow. The translation here is that it’s big enough to be comfortable, but small enough to be maintainable.

This is the view from one of the two sets of front windows. The other is similar, but has the old town center in it (which, while interesting, is to me, slightly less amazing).

Here we have a corner shot, taken from the back (near the study) looking to the diagonal corner. Of interest: The original windows, fireplace, wood beams/door frames, and, of course, sub-flooring (putting in hardwood here will be a breeze).

In this shot, the study; entered by french doors. I will likely make this into either a sitting room or a reading room looking out at that amazing view (previous shot).

The upstairs was renovated into a master and smaller bedroom (next shot). This room is currently intended to be my bedroom.

Judging from the location of the plumbing, I will most likely bring it up and turn this room (above) into a combination master bath and either walk in closet or sitting area.

This room, downstairs, will most likely serve as a guest room and office.
Things I do not have shots of at the moment:
(1) The 500 sq. ft. studio in the back yard (a renovated garage), with its own wiring and plumbing (seperate utilities, a potential rental after some future refinance as one is not allowed to rent within the program). For now, it will mostly likely serve as a guest house or possibly a work studio, depending on how the ongoing freelance effort grows.
(2) The pavered and bricked patio/yard area that is just screaming for a fire pit, seating, and a barbeque to be the perfect outdoor gathering spot. I may even restart the writer’s group. 😉
(3) The roughly 600 sq. ft. unfinished basement where the washer and dryer lives. The plan for this space is to enclose the W/D as a laundry room, and finish the remainder off as either a bed/bath combo or a social/lounge/media room.
Obviously these are not short term projects, but I am smiling for it because I can see the final outcomes in my head already and I’m simply delighted to have the chance to savor them at all. I intend to remain in this house. I am utterly smitten with it. It offers all the things I wanted, none of the ones I don’t, and the location is the perfect compromise for semi-city living without the ridiculous noise, crime, or taxes.
The signed acceptance will arrive Monday to my agent. From there, it’s inspection time. Should the house pass inspection, then it’s all about juggling timing and steadying up scheduling. I will likely take some vacation time to affect the move so as not to stress/strain any more than I must for it.
And then? Well, as you might expect, it will be me delighting in bohemian life and inviting folks out for spring and summer weekends to enjoy it with me.
