Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi

Looking, but blind, the eyes seek on behalf of the heart; straining, ever reaching until, forlorn and despairing, they shut and close off every chance of lighting upon a beautiful thing.

What hope, the loving, before the closed door? What chance, the infinite heart, pouring upon stone? But this is not the view of such loving, of such an infinite heart. Here, deep wisdom and a simple truth that is a pattern, repeating, as infinite as the heart that holds it as treasure.

Water does not pour to reach the ocean, nor to wear down stone, nor to fill the cup or even to feel the splash of all itself upon the ground. Love does not sigh and pine before the closed door, nor knock, nor pound, nor throw itself in frenzy to find the place whereby it may enter.

It is merely water, it does as water does; it flows.

It is merely love, it does as love does; it gives.

No demand, no limit, no insistence nor flagging; it is what it is, as it is, for it can be no other.

The trite tails of celebrity and faerie, bound up in vanity and pride and tempestous tossings; all things must yield and victory is a painful walk upon broken glass to the place of unity, peace, and delight.

But not all of them. Not all.

Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi, a story of water and love, a telling of innocence lost, found, and redeemed. All beings know what love is, if not for the having, then for the lacking; the shape of it – positive or negative space – is known. The celluloid tempests in so many teacups are as sugared things; delight upon the tongue but bitter in the belly.

But not all of them. Not all.

Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi, a telling of simplicity that becomes complex; the depth is found in degrees, a slow and careful bath in the oceans of pure ideation. To watch it is to say to yourself over and over again, like echoes upon the shoreline, “Yes. Yes. I recognize this; I have seen the outline of its paradoxical being – being in concept and polity that has not yet been in any other way.

I dare you to watch this movie and try to close the door.

I dare you to watch this movie and try to remain stone.

Watch it with someone you love. Watch it because you love.

Just… watch it… I dare you.
