Track title: Isegoria

Genre: Any

Lyric:

To be ostracized was supposed to be a ten year sentence
Raise hands to sky, I’m closing sixty, and still doing penance
We should remind ourselves that isonomia is not isegoria
Don’t sleep on this just because the new words may bore ya

When Solon lived corrupted courts went against the poor every time
Government and military abusing, not once would they catch a fine
Solon cleared all debt but he also the crafted rule of law
Distinctions soon breed new dissent as those pillars begin to fall

Cleisthenes then arrived to better set his suit
A people’s revolution by greed eventually was moot
As long before and ever more, thetes held no root
Oligarchy masquerading as demokratia’s truth

In 1787, Madison made a decision to up and get his conlang on
Distinguish between democracy and a republic made to make bank on

Where public review, single year terms once kept that greed in check
Representation set points that the system must inevitably wreck
Our congress, the Aeropagus, ever new even as so ever old
Now a glut in our esophagus, lifetime service turned into mold

And this country that today claims this direct democracy
Claims peak of governance and all that implies as sundry
Yet is today much the same as what Solon once held in sight
Little ever as much as withholds so-called ‘right’ held by might

We placed this overseer in his chair, relieved it of all tort
With other changes over time new machinations do set forth
With no reason, and no design but by them all of us escort
To the pocket of the keepers and woe should you come up short

Take my word or take it not, you do what you must do
History will still repeat and what was sowed will come due
Wisdom for those with eyes to see, you can’t take it with you
Spread your arms and take them up to help us all get through

In 2024, Madison is long gone and we can be so much more
Distinguish between democracy and a republic, it’s true, that’s what we’re here for
