Captive, coerced, and controlled labor is the grail of economy.
Cheap, captive, coerced, and controlled labor is the grail of capitalism.
Cowed, cheap, captive, coerced, and controlled labor is the grail of power.
Consider the focus and locus of all this activity and effort — it is enlightening:
All economy stops without labor.
Global Capitalism fails without labor.
All Power crumbles without labor.
If you sell your labor, every bit of the above is targeting you.
Economy, Global Capitalism, Power, they ALL know their entire kingdom rests upon the shoulders of those who sell their labor, usually at a loss, always without full equity in consideration.
It is ‘we’ who forget, which is easy to do when the public education, information, and good have been sold to the highest bidders (often literally).
Easy to do when no one wants to educate, but everyone demands education (which, of COURSE, is then turned into a high-interest profiteering mill in the U.S. because care of and for labor is NEVER a high priority).
Humans turned into ‘human resources’ in an act of supreme arrogance — significant creativity, efficiency, innovation, materials, productivity, and quality are lost year after year as an obsession with profit over-rides every standard that allowed us to be that nation of industrial and technological invention.
They cannot see it. They lost this thread the moment they were willing to cannibalize the country and their own control in domain, industry, market, or segment because the profit margins could always grow, and, when they didn’t, you could just kill or sell off the company, rebrand/reissue, and do it all again — often with the same money you swore you didn’t have when you crashed the old corporation, limited liability company, etc.
Now, the entire federal structure, across administrative, executive, and judicial, and significant parts/elements of state structure are compromised by a congress and supreme court more beholden to corporate and power interests than checks and balances, or even law… and that conflicted interest eclipses care and protection of labor at every turn.
All being that much further corrupted and compromised by a generation so terrified of being outside the power structure that they are not willing to grant the generations following them their rightful places at the helms, lecterns, and podiums from which the future is assessed, planned, funded, and managed.
The machine is oiled with the life fluids of those who sell their labor. That’s you, especially if you’re not a business operator or self-employed.
It is important to remember in these troubled times that all of this, every bit of it, is to be the group that gets to control the labor.
Remember your true value is not their arbitrary, self-serving (de)valuation of your labor.
Remember your true value, as always, rests in your potential as an emergent, unique presence within this world.
It has always been so, it will always be so.
Fight for your right to live peaceably and maintain your agency, autonomy, and lived experience authority.
Do not become entangled in their narratives. Share your own.
