i can hardly believe this year is almost over. honestly, they seem to go quicker than they used to…
only yesterday, i was driving ‘home’ from new jersey.
only yesterday, i found my ‘dream job’ as a writer for a game company.
only yesterday, i was unexpectedly laid off from that dream job.
only yesterday, i met an amazing person in a virtual world and for the first time in almost 15 years, felt alive again.
only yesterday, i found a purpose that crossed both real and virtual worlds and brought me into contact with a blessed thing.
only yesterday, i lost a good and trusted friend to death.
only yesterday, i lost an amazing person from both the virtual and real worlds for our ignorance and blindness and pride and greed.
only yesterday, i found two amazing beings in zen and karma.
only yesterday, i found hope and livelihood and a new place, thanks to yet another new friend.
all the yesterdays this year have flown. that short list is hardly the totality of experiences this year. synopsis. highlights… or low lights, as the case may be.
so many new friends, new thoughts, new experiences, highs and lows, it seems life gets richer as time goes by. interesting how that works.
it’s coming up on an anniversary here. the first of what will be a ‘rest of my life’ observation. i’ve written of it, here and there, obliquely. january 2nd. the first day of the rest of this life.
i am thankful for the lessons learned in this year. and i am thankful for the things experienced that have not yet become lessons, but perhaps, if i am diligent, will.
but most of all, i am thankful for the ever-increasing evidence that the universe and all in it work together to deliver all things.
