comfort to a friend. i hope.
what is a hint but life?
muted color peeking through
slats of long abandoned sheds
blistering reds faded
rusty streaks that once
dared the mighty sun?
graceful passing into age
sturdy fences leaning slowly
sighing to loose
barbed wire
and receive the rains
rooted deep and drinking
grass and mud and seed
tendrils of new possibilities
climb insouciantly
wrap split beams
tending old wounds
dealt by farmer’s axe
a sound acre is filled
with the screams of history
that are yet lullabyes
droning like bees
full of life, heavy
turning to home
stand in the middle
memories surround
dancing, dancing
free and wild
pointing the way
to treasure
glinting gold forever
nectar in the deeps
band of remembrance
branded upon hive mind
nothing is ever truly lost
so long as we recall it
nothing is ever gone
but that we release
they say it is a law
energy never dies
only changes form
who is to say
that clever drone
that heavy harvest
that sigh
that lullabye
that scream
is not she?
