Track title: Limerence

Genre: Folk, pop, rock, punk, R&B

Lyric:

Limerence is the word of which I speak
Mind obsession, no healthy human seeks
Hook of history that sticks where you’re weak
Pulls the ancient wounds, always makes you shriek

Love to be in love more than love another
Love despair too, decadently smother

Entangled with a man named for a flower
Borderline narcissistic, I gave him this power
Deep wisdom in lessons as he did devour
As with most endings, me I did him scour

So I always say aloud, wishing it were true
Ten full years it took to really follow through

There are still some times on a really quiet night
I catch myself wondering if he’s still doing alright
Remainder of a friendship I once felt burned so bright
When trust was deep, nights were short, and we both felt delight

Never will forget how it felt to hear him say,
“You’re too much, you’re way too broken, just please go away.”

One face presenting to me and the public world
Alone, reinventing, gaslight’s ribbons unfurled
Threw our friendship upon the hearth, ash now rests so curled
His lies fermenting, from shared groups quickly was I hurled

Rather than a cherished friend, now the lies thick flew
Bully to the bitter end as lies of stalking grew
So disheartened, disillusioned, and feeling stupid
He was like a brother to me, for me there was no cupid

But the friends were lost and access to public spaces, too
Anything to save that face and assassinate me to boot

Limerence is all gone today, that relief was sorely due
Looking for my day-to-day was the right thing for me to do

I sometimes miss the humans initially found
Both me and him and them, before it was unbound
Before we dug too deeply and ourselves confound
Had I known back then, yes, I’d have turned around

Always rather think that a friend like you is true
Eternal secret shame, guess I’m just that kind of fool
