The hunt… continues.

The nice part about this process is that I’m in no rush; I have successfully confirmed that the area in which I’m searching is, in fact, the area in which I wish to be (having spent the day roaming it for “business” rather than pleasure and finding it equally enjoyable despite traffic and the somewhat ludicrous driving patterns of the locals).

The little blue house I thought would be “the one” turns out to be in severe need of renovation. Alas, it would be excellent income property had I the time, money, and patience to spend upon it. But, I do not, so it is stricken from the list.

The other blue house is move in ready and cute as a button. But… (sigh) it is smaller than anticipated and there’s something odd with the duct work that makes me think there are likely issues hiding in its walls and wiring that I have no interest in discovering (let alone having to repair).

The beige house turned out to be in a very poor neighborhood (quality as well as proximity to things I enjoy) AND it was so infested with dog hair, dander, piss, and stench that I was reminded (after near 30 years of no issues) just how allergic to dogs I am and remain. I walked in and, quite literally, couldn’t breathe. So much for that house.

A fourth, found online as we took a break at a local coffee shop may well have been perfection. But four flights of stairs and no other means of access ensured I never got to find out. (Arthritis trumps all things, even a possibly perfect place less than two blocks from Market. Alas.)

So… done and done and back to idling and waiting for new listings to come onto market. My agent has a very clear understanding of my interests and needs and is happy to look on my behalf. I now also have a damn good agent to refer to anyone shopping for a home. I mean, this guy actually hopped a 6′ fence to let me into the last property when the building superintendent was more than a little delayed in making it to the door. (We joked over the reality that being able to do that at all effectively put a rather thick black mark on the potential of the place. The stairs sealed its doom.)

I am freshly home, moderately tired, and about to dive into my thesis/final for the communications class this semester. Afterward, I think I’m going to have a luxurious bath with candles, incense, and Sirah followed by some serious cuddle time with the cats and a movie night.

Hope Friday was good to you. It has been quite good to me and I’m feeling remarkably content with life in general. (smile)
