Fuego, fripperies, and fun

Today was a fun-filled day; buckwheat pancakes and morning bounciness followed by a day touring the town center and goofing off along the way. We wound up goobering around in Fuego, a franchise shop specializing in fun things for pretty much any occasion and found these ridiculous bits of head-gear that, apparently, are quite popular with the snow-boarding crowd (of which my daughter is now a firmly ensconced member). Needless to say, with her iPhone handy, it wasn’t long until a memory in pixels was made:

After this, a spot of lunch and roaming aimlessly until time to pick up her guy (M.) from the airport to round out the foursome for the weekend. A solid dinner and IPAs at TapHouse and time spent exchanging stories on everything from misadventures and musings in our respective “sides of the country” to discussion of tomorrow’s intentions for Seattle city center and a visit to the “real” snowboarding shop, followed by touring the usual stops in downtown (i.e., Pike, possibly The Sam, and definitely the docks) then… as our feet and feelings lead.

This visit is for my birthday (next Wednesday), so the week has been filled with impromptu gifts from J. as well as the surprise of a certificate to my favorite online outlet for dreaming of accessories of late – The Saddleback Leather company (http://www.saddlebackleather.com/). THAT was put to solid use and I look forward to the arrival of a most excellent satchel and wallet in the coming week:

It was an early night for J. and myself; I had a paper to knock out for college (done) and, frankly, was a bit tired from the day. But… a good night’s rest and tomorrow, I’ll be ready for more. We left the daughter and M. contemplating the night life and will discover in the morning if they did more than consider it. To be sure, tomorrow will be another whirlwind with all the activity for the morning and early afternoon followed by a trek to El Gaucho for dinner.

Sunday morning is departure for their return to the east coast, but we’re talking of snowboarding excursions next spring and possibly more… all in all, good things to look forward to savoring. 🙂

I hope the weekend treats you well.
