the garden of forking paths (recommendation)

i don’t read blogs as much as i write one… but every now and then i find a place that tickles my temporal lobes. this is definitely one…

The Garden of Forking Paths

what i find interesting is the synchronicity of it. the name is a reference to borges, who was an amazing author that just happened to share my birthday. i also find he rarely wrote more than novelettes, if that much… and had a precision with words that was laser-like.

he was a thinker’s writer, if that makes sense. simple turns of phrase that set entire universes loose inside your head.

i found him through a friend. oddly enough, both the author and the friendship are dead in this moment. never to return. but the words live on, as do the treasures unearthed. i find that comforting.

anyway… the site is amazing, as was the one for whom it is named. highly recommend.

actually, the story for which it is named i also highly recommend. here’s a link to a fairly thorough synopsis. for the actual story (which you will enjoy), you’ll have to make a purchase. i have it in pdf, but it seems unfair that his family should pay the cost of the urge to immediate gratification. so. instead, a link to the book. :
