Downsizing

I find I’m not doing enough with this blog to justify the monthly expense. Sad, because I’ve been with this host for eleven years and they have just been aces.

We’re in the process of preparing for an extreme down-size and there is a part of me that is happy for it. I feel the weight of all this “stuff” and it rankles. Every piece of it is a cord and hook that shackles me to a culture that I abhor but, oops, I did it again? Meh.

The plan is to have a hauler come and just take whatever is being left behind. I considered donating it to Goodwill, but between trying to get them to commit to a schedule and the hassle of managing receipts, eh… we’ll probably move the things we’re taking and then, advertise via the apartment community site that an open door “pick your own” is happening and see if we can reduce the weight that the haulers will have to take our for us.

It occurs to me to ask the complex what they pay for “detrash” (i.e., removal of left-behind bits) as they may get a better rate on it than we would.

Regardless how it happens, next up is the cleaning. Again the complex may have a deal so I’ll be checking with them first.

Lease here is up in the next month and we’re targeting to make the “leap” at month’s end to allow us to be out of here so the above can happen without everyone trying to coordinate around one another.

We’ll see.
