Daydreaming In The Rain

a poem, a melody, a mix.

Day by day, nothing is the same
Forever lost in memory
Daydreaming in the rain

Weeks, they pass as
I wonder why we blamed
Months will turn to years
Memories will soon be maimed

So funny how we battled
Cursed and spit and screamed
As if ever one was chattel
To another’s hopes and dreams

Sadly hindsight arrives
Only when one departs
From the distant mountain
Sighs from pensive hearts

I think about how it could have been
Had we simply smiled one to the other
Close and caring friendship
Tender sister, gentle brother

A place and time, some far flung day
In a world where we did not part
Where assumptions and accusations
Never scarred our tender hearts

A beautiful, loving someday where
This pensively said refrain
A long forgotten worry
Itself, a daydream in the rain

Where trust was never broken
Where compassion, it lives still
Where the aches and pains of fear
Pass like a sudden chill

Where you and i, peaceful
Share warm and tender times
Where all things are known as equal
No solemn warning chimes

It is a lovely thing
This thought of what would be
Were all things done unmade
Were we both, truly free

But the thunder it reminds me
Some times we do not see
The beauty of the moment
What it is to simply be

These words, they are as raindrops
A softly spoken pain
For in this moment, i remember
I’m daydreaming in the rain
